Lance Ulanoff hits the nail on the head in his article 'Goodbye' RSS. I'm amazed how few online stores use RSS feeds to broadcast sales and coupons. Although many online stores have functionality that allows customers to be emailed when a specific product reaches a predefined price, RSS offers more options. Personally, I've never used that functionality because I'm more tied to price, features and quality than make, model or store. Broadcasting prices and features for products in a category such as MP3 players, would enable customers to use feed aggregators to easily and quickly be notified when your store offers what they want with the potential to link directly to the online store. I'll be recommending my customers use RSS to at least allow customers to monitor sales.
